MG Motor India to conduct ‘MG Innovation Challenge’ for college students in Vadodara

A hackathon for college students

In a bid to get unique, out-of-the-box ideas, MG Motor India has announced an ‘Innovation Challenge’ for college students in Vadodra. The one day event will be held at Navrachna University on May 23. Students from Vadodara and nearby areas from Vadodara can attend the event by registering themselves in this link: https://www.innovation.mgmotor.co.in/ by Monday, May 21. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in the event. MG Motor India expects over 150 students to take part in the competition.

Inviting ideas for a safer and greener mobility

The theme of the event is, “To make automobiles and transportation services safer and greener”. The selected students will be given five problem statements to work on at the start of the event, which will be related to the challenges faced by the automotive industry. The competition aims to bring out the problem solving skills of students that will aid the automotive industry. As a motivation for the students, there are cash prizes will be awarded for the top three winners, with Rs 1 lakh for the first place, Rs 50,000 for the second place and Rs 25,000 for the third place. Students who come up with interesting ideas with respect to the given problem statements will also get a chance to internship or work opportunity with the company‘s Halol facility.

On the ‘MG Innovation Challenge’, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director of MG Motor India said, “Further reinforcing our commitment to innovation through the MG Innovation Program, our aim is to find key solutions in the automotive space especially in the areas of green mobility and safe transportation. To address this, the upcoming Innovation Challenge (Hackathon) will give students or student groups a chance to present solutions and thereby come out with a collective solution in this space. The programme will also enable us to nurture future talent in the automotive space, as Gujarat steps up as one of the biggest automotive hubs in India.”

The competition is a part of the company’s ‘MG Drives Innovation’ that was launched in December last year.
