MG Motor India conducts its first ever dealership event

Iconic British car company MG Motor conducted its first ever dealership event in the country, in Mumbai. With a focus to expand its presence in the country, MG Motor is looking for partners in prospective dealers to set up shop in different parts of India. They have received over 2000 registrations form various dealers since registrations began this month.

At the event, MG Motor India shared its business plans with the selected dealers from the western part of the country. The company will further be conducting an elaborate evaluation process with various parameters like market credibility, local market knowledge, financial background, presence in digital media, operational efficiency and strong service commitments.  150 people have already been employed by MG Motor India and they have a strong focus to increase female employees, who already account for 22 per cent of the work force in the company. Their first vehicle is touted to be an SUV and they have plans to launch one vehicle every year from 2019. Led by its parent company SAIC, the car maker is also looking at sustainable green vehicles that are on the cards for the country, but the company is tight lipped about it at the moment.

At the event, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director of MG Motor India, said, “Like our strong focus on employees and diversity, we have laid out a core philosophy for our dealers as well, for they will be the face of MG brand for customers. Revolving around the umbrella theme: ‘Together we grow’, our dealer policy inculcates complete transparency and mutual respect while focusing on bringing a practical approach to business.”

MG Motor India is a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corporation, which is the seventh largest automaker in the world and the largest in China. For MG Motors’ right hand drive models that are sold internationally, SAIC’s UK technical centre takes care of vehicle design and engineering capabilities. The company opened its first manufacturing facility in September last year, at Halol, Gujarat.
