In a bid to cater to the increased demand for hassle-free automatic gearboxes, Tata Motors has launched the Tiago in a new XTA variant at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Tiago XTA is essentially the existing XT variant with an AMT on offer, making it the fourth Tiago variant to get an AMT.

The Tiago XTA is now the third variant in the Tiago line-up and shares its feature list with the Tiago XT. Like in the XT, apart from standard safety features like two airbags, ABS and parking sensors, the XTA gets the ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman with bluetooth connectivity, 4 speakers, steering mounted audio and phone controls, power windows and electrically adjustable rear view mirrors.

Commenting on the introduction of Tata Tiago XTA, Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (PVBU), Tata Motors said, “Fulfilling our brand promise of staying New Forever, we are constantly listening and gathering feedback from the market. The Tiago has received tremendous market response from across regions. Furthermore, the automatic transmission (AT) segment in India is booming and the same has been proven in the sales of Tiago as well. Acknowledging the increasing preference for ATs we are excited to introduce the XTA version to the range and are confident that this new variant will not only give us a competitive edge in the mid-hatch segment but will also provide customers with accessible options to choose from at every price point.”

The introduction of the XTA makes owning an automatic hatchback more affordable. The closest competitor for the Tiago, the Maruti Suzuki Swift, offers an AMT too but at a premium of Rs 86,000 over the XTA, making the Tata Tiago AMT among the most affordable AMT cars in its segment.
