2025 Volvo XC90 launched in India, priced at ₹1.03 crore

Retaining its principles of simplicity, elegance and top-class safety, the Volvo XC90 finally gets a refresh after 10 years;

Volvo has launched the facelifted Volvo XC90 in India with a fresh updated exterior and new features. The new model will be available in a single variant priced at ₹1.03 crore. It is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine along with a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain option.

Although the car is the same dimensionally, the front end has been completely redesigned. The new front end resembles the new Volvo EV design language and is aimed to make it look futuristic yet simple. Changes in the exterior include a new fresh front bumper, sleeker grille with diagonal slats and LED headlights with newly designed ‘Thor’s Hammer’ shaped DRL. It also gets new design 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear gets an updated bumper with sharp cuts and creases, sleeker LED tail lamps, and an integrated rear spoiler.

The interior layout remains the same but it will now host a new 11.2-inch frameless touchscreen display that is positioned vertically between the air vents, it comes with Google software that replaces the old 9-inch unit and additional storage space in the centre console. Apart from this the XC90 gets an updated digital instrument cluster, 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, panoramic sunroof, crystal gear shifter and ventilated front seats with massage function. Volvo now uses recycled materials for certain trim elements inside the cabin.

The new Volvo XC90 is still powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 246bhp and 360Nm which gives it a claimed 0-100kmph time of 7.7 seconds. The engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox and the top speed is electronically limited to 180kmph. It comes with a 48V mild-hybrid technology which provides extra range and reduces emissions. The XC90 is also equipped with an air suspension which can lower the ride height by 20mm and raise it by 40mm.


2025 Volvo XC90 price and rivals

The introductory price of the XC90 is ₹1.03 crore. It will compete with the likes of the BMW X5 which starts at ₹97.80 lakh, Mercedes-Benz GLE at ₹99 lakh, Audi Q7 which starts at ₹88.70 lakh, and the Range Rover Velar which costs ₹87.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
