Veteran racer Jagan Kumar signed off his career in style, clinching the Pro-stock 165cc title, while young Sarthak Chavan secured two championships to close the 2024 season of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) on a high note for TVS Racing. With wins across multiple categories, TVS Racing once again demonstrated their dominance as the season came to a thrilling conclusion at the Madras International Circuit. Additionally, titles were claimed by Jagathishree Kumaresan, Kaushik Subbiah, and Abdul Basim, making this a season to remember.

Pro-stock 301-400cc Open

Sarthak Chavan, the young talent from Pune, finished the Pro-stock 301-400cc Open season with a near-perfect record, securing nine wins from 10 starts. His final victory in Race 2 saw him fend off teammates Chiranth Vishwanath and Deepak Ravikumar, who charged from the back of the grid to finish on the podium. Chavan’s win capped off a stellar season where he also claimed the TVS RTE Electric championship, cementing his place as one of the brightest stars in Indian motorcycle racing.

Pro-stock 165cc Open

The Pro-stock 165cc class belonged to Jagan Kumar, who brought his illustrious career to an emotional close by winning his 11th national title. Jagan, also known as the “King of 165,” staged a last-corner overtake on his TVS Racing teammates and secured the championship by just five points. The 36-year-old Chennai native, who has been a fixture of Indian motorcycle racing for over a decade, declared this race his final professional outing, marking a fitting end to a legendary career.

Stock classes

In the Stock 301-400cc Novice class, Bengaluru’s Savion Sabu stole the show, edging out Raj Kumar and Kaushik Subbiah Ganesan for a close victory. Kaushik, however, was content with third place, as it was enough to win the championship.

Meanwhile, the Novice (Stock 165cc) race saw Mysuru’s Tasmai Cariappa take a hard-fought win, though Abdul Basim, despite a crash that relegated him to 17th, had already secured the title in the last round.

In the Girls (Stock 165cc) class, it was Rakshitha Dave who cruised to victory in the final race, with her rivals Shuria SP and Aisvariya V completing the podium. Jagathishree Kumaresan, the leader in the standings, had a challenging race and finished in sixth. Despite that, she clinched the championship thanks to her earlier performances.

One-make championships

The TVS One Make Championship also came to a thrilling conclusion, with Senthilkumar C sealing the title in the Apache RR 310 Open class after finishing second behind Chennai’s Manoj Yesuadiyan in the final race. Senthilkumar’s consistent performances throughout the season saw him emerge as the champion. In the Rookie (Apache RTR 200) class, Harshith V Bogar secured the title despite finishing second to Akarsh Jangam in the season finale. CS Kedarnath took the third spot. And finally the debut season of the TVS Apache RTE Electric championship came to a close as well with Sarthak Chavan bringing it home with a 22-point lead over his closest rival Chiranth V.

In the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (NSF 250R), Bengaluru’s Savion Sabu took his maiden win, but it was Malappuram’s Mohsin Paramban who took the overall championship crown, having shown dominant form throughout the season.

The Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship will return next year, with the next generation of riders eager to take the mantle from legends like Jagan Kumar. For now, though, it’s time to celebrate the champions of 2024.
