The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most iconic SUVs in the world, with its focus on luxury, immense capabilities off the road and imposing presence. So far, we in India have been deprived of the latest generation of the Land Cruiser, the LC300. Last month, we reported that the LC300 is coming to India, and now, there’s more good news! We have found out that the Toyota Land Cruiser is coming to India in September of 2022, as well as details about its specifications. Here’s what you need to know about the Toyota Land Cruiser coming to India.

The design is rugged and utilitarian

The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 will be coming to India in its ‘Sahara’ Spec. This means, it will get 18-inch alloy wheels and nine colour options. The Sahara spec gets some chrome trims on the front grille and the rear, as well as on the side mirrors and door handles, something that we Indians love. It also gets bi-LED projector headlamps with auto-levelling and a rear privacy glass. What is unchanged though is the Land Cruiser’s solid road presence and we’re curious to see how buyers will amp up the bling even further with mods from the aftermarket.

India will get the seven seat option

The Sahara spec of the LC300 is the comfort-oriented variant, and so it gets features like driver’s seat memory, a heads-up display and ventilated front and rear seats. There is also an entertainment suite for the rear passengers. The Sahara spec is also the 7-seater variant in the lineup, with the third row of seats getting an electronic tumble function. The LC300 also gets four-zone climate control and eight-way power adjustable seats for all passengers. Entertainment should also be a breeze, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 14-speaker JBL audio system. There’s also a normal sunroof on offer, not a panoramic one.

There are very few things that can go where the Land Cruiser can

The LC300 will get the 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 engine that produces 304bhp and a massive 700Nm of torque put to the ground by a 10-speed automatic transmission. If you want to go off the beaten path, there is also the presence of an off-road kit such as hill-assist control, driver assistance systems and a four-camera panoramic view monitor which shows you a full view of your surroundings in the infotainment system. The tough ladder-on-frame chassis is allied to Toyota's famed four-wheel-drive system with a limited slip differential that should make the rough stuff easier to handle. There are also multiple modes for going off-road available on the Sahara spec.

Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 pricing and rivals

The Land Cruiser will have tough competition

The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 will be launched here in September 2022 and we expect it to be priced around ₹1.9 crore to ₹1.95 crore. As we reported last month, it seems that Toyota already started taking bookings for the vehicle back in January, but had to temporarily stop them because of the extremely low supply and availability of the SUV, partly caused by the semiconductor shortage crisis. The LC300 will rival the likes of the Range Rover, BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS and hopefully, we will get to see this iconic off-roader on our roads sooner rather than later!
