Suzuki Motor Corporation has created history, again! After achieving a number of milestones, the mother of it all is here. The company has achieved an accumulated production of 20 million cars (domestic and export combined) in the country since it began operations in December 1983. The 20 millionth car was the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift which rolled out of its Gujarat plant.
After Japan, India is the second country for Suzuki Motor Corporation where it has produced 20 million cars and the fastest country to reach the coveted figure of 20 million units in just 35 years and five months, compared to 45 years and 9 months it took for Japan to reach the same figure. The company has three production facilities in India – Gurgaon, Manesar and Gujarat. The company manufactures a total of 16 cars at these three facilities for domestic as well as export markets. The all-time top five models for the company are the Alto, Maruti 800, WagonR, Omni and Swift. Alto was the most produced car at 3.17 million units, followed by Maruti 800 at 2.91 million units.
Suzuki Motor Corporation started its production in December 1983 and reached a million units of production in March 1994. The company reached five million units of production in just 11 years. The production reached 10 million units in just six years, in 2011. The number has doubled to 20 million in just seven years, thanks to the number of new vehicles launched and the constant upgrades to the best selling cars like Alto, Dzire, Baleno and WagonR. The company achieved the 35 lakh Alto sales figure in March 2018. Maruti Suzuki is also the tenth most trusted brand in the country. Recently, the carmaker’s AMT models crossed sales of 3 lakh units in the country. With its well established service networks and aggressive expansion followed by churning out value for money cars equipped with all the modern features it is no surprise that the company has shattered many records on the way to reach production of 20 million units.
