ABS version of the Suzuki Gixxer launched at Rs 87,250

The critically acclaimed motorcycle from Suzuki, the Gixxer is now equipped with an ABS, pitching in at Rs 87,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is now offered with three variants, including the one with ABS. The ABS was offered only on the fully faired Gixxer SF earlier and now has made its way on to the naked sibling as well. Thus, the Gixxer, now has an edge over the Honda CB Hornet as the latter costs Rs 90,734 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the ABS variant, Rs 3484 dearer compared to the Suzuki Gixxer. The other rival bikes like TVS Apache RTR 160 and RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar 150 and NS 160, and Yamaha’s 150cc FZ series do not offer ABS even as an option. Mechanically the Gixxer remains the same.

On the launch of the new ABS variant of the Gixxer, Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, sales and marketing, Suzuki India said, “Ever since its launch, the Suzuki Gixxer has emerged as a benchmark for the segment, managing to ‘Stay Ahead of the Pack’ in terms of technology and performance. The ABS option allows us to improve on an already exciting riding experience for our Gixxer customers. The Suzuki Gixxer series is an important cog of our India product-strategy. With enhancements like ABS, we will continue to improve on the value-proposition we offer to our customers.”

Powering the motorcycle is the same single cylinder 154.9cc engine that makes 14.6bhp and 14Nm of twist and it comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It is a well calculated move by Suzuki to increase the sales of its best selling motorcycle and upsetting competition by throwing in the ABS. Expect more Gixxers to fly off from Suzuki’s shelves with its superb pricing.
