Skoda is all set to introduce its first all-electric SUV — the Enyaq iV on September 1 at Prague. Skoda has now released official sketches of the SUV of which we have little information about. For now, we can tell you that the Enyaq iV will be based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform and will be available in three different battery packs.
From the teaser image, we can expect the Skoda Enyaq iV to feature sculpted lines and crystalline elements that are inspired by Bohemian crystal art. Since it is an electric SUV, it doesn’t really need a grille, but the butterfly grille has always been a signature element in all Skoda cars which is why the Enyaq iV will feature a unique grille that blends with the the LED headlamps. The sketch image features unusually large wheels and the door handles are given a miss too but obviously, expect the production SUV to feature regular-sized wheels and probably flush door handles.
Under the hood, the Enyaq iV will be on offer with three battery packs - a 50 kWh battery combined with an 109kW electric motor, to deliver a range of 340 kilometres per charge. The second will be the 62kWh battery option with a 132kW electric motor, boasting a range of 390 kilometres and the range-topper would be an 82kWh battery pack option with 150kW electric motor that will offer a range of 500 kilometres. And then there’ll also be the enthusiast-friendly RS variant which will be on offer with 225kW of power.
Karl Neuhold, head of exterior design, Skoda, said, "With the Enyaq iV, we are again building on the emotive Skoda design language that characterises the Scala, the Kamiq and the new, fourth-generation Octavia. The Enyaq iV also features sculptural lines, clear surfaces and crystalline elements that draw inspiration from Bohemian crystal art. Its proportions, however, differ from those of our previous SUV models: the Enyaq iV has a shorter front end and an elongated roofline. This creates a very dynamic look and transforms it into a proverbial ‘space shuttle’." Adding to this, he also said “The design of the ENYAQ iV is progressive, balanced and confident. The new proportions give it a special dynamic and a spacious interior, as well. Its large wheels and ground clearance give it the powerful presence of an SUV”.
As for now, we can only tell you that this all-electric SUV from Skoda will make it to the production line later this year and will go on sale early next year in the international markets.
