Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has donated Rs 1 crore to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune

The Czech-German manufacturer has also announced it will distribute 35,000 hand sanitisers to hospitals in Pune, Aurangabad and Mumbai.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has stepped up the fight against Coronavirus and has already donated Rs 1 crore to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India hopes to help frontline medical workers by also producing reusable face shields at its Chakan factory. The German automaker also announced it will donate more than 35,000 sanitisers to hospitals in Pune Aurangabad and Mumbai, along with 50,000 food packets in Aurangabad.

Skoda India hopes to produce the reusable face shield at its plant. These have been designed to allow free movement for healthcare workers and also to prevent them from fogging up. Further, they can be sanitised after eight hours of use, and be reused. The company received approval from Dr Ajay Chandawale, dean of the Maharashtra State government-run Sassoon Hospital in Pune. These masks have been certified for both indoor and outdoor use and will be used during ICU procedures as well as for the COVID-19 quarantine consultations.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen IndIa will also import essential medical supplies via the Volkswagen AG conglomerate, including ventilators, masks, gloves, disinfectant, clinical thermometers , protective goggles and other essential supplies that can be used against a fight off COVID-19.

Skoda Internationally will also lend its technical assistance to the University in Prague to produce respirators for hospitals using 3-D printers. With all these initiatives, Skoda hopes to help the flight of this current global pandemic.
