Italian car design firm Pininfarina S.p.A have big plans for the future of electric luxury vehicles. Their new all-electric luxury hypercar code-named PF0 will be shown exclusively to prospective clients at Pebble Beach, California, ahead of the Concours d’Elegance that commences on August 26.
The design of the PF0 is in its final stages and is inspired by the marque’s previous creations like the Cisitalia, Modulo and Sintesi. The car’s body will be made out of carbon fibre and the company aspires that it will race from 0 to 100kmph in less than two seconds, and might even go on to break the 400kmph barrier. The company says that the hypercar will boast a range of more than 480kms. All these crazy numbers while potentially functioning on all-electric energy. According to Pininfarina, the car will be handcrafted at their facility in Cambiano, Italy and will be built in strictly limited numbers from 2020.
On the presentation of their new hypercar, Michael Perschke, CEO, Automobili Pininfarina, said, “Numerous design icons from Pininfarina’s incredible history have won awards at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, so I am excited to present a future Pininfarina classic to prospective owners in close proximity to this famous event. Our presence in Monterey is an inspiring chapter in the story of realising Battista Farina’s long-held dream: one day there will be beautiful cars solely branded Pininfarina. These special VIP previews mean that future PF0 owners, most of whom will undoubtedly own numerous modern and historic classics, have an opportunity right now to be part of the birth of the company and their hypercar”.
Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra & Mahindra group will be present in California to mark the occasion as the Italian marque is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Indian firm. The full unveiling of the company’s hypercar will take place at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.
