Pagani Automobili is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Zonda with the world premiere of the first ever completely restored Zonda chassis. And in typical Pagani fashion, a one-off Huayra Roadster with a unique finish to its carbon fibre body will also be displayed at the 89th Geneva International Motor Show.
Speaking on the occasion, Horacio Pagani, founder & chief designer said “Essentially, we are all car enthusiasts at Pagani Automobili. We just love all cars, but particularly those that nurtured our childhood dreams; that still inspire us and so will for the future designers. It is a known fact that we ourselves took inspiration from Le Mans’ vehicles of the ‘80s and ‘90s for the development of the Zonda which subsequently influenced the Huayra project; which, in turn, will do so with the next Pagani models. Today we pay homage to the Zonda, the car that allowed us to grow up, confirm our initial gambles and, above all, share our great passion with the whole world.”

The Pagani Zonda C12 was the first Pagani vehicle made by the company. The car featured a silver livery inspired by the Group C’s Silver Arrows of Mercedes Benz. Exactly 20 years after that, the Atelier pays homage to the iconic supercar with the restoration of chassis number 001. This chassis was used originally for homologation and crash tests. Most of the parts were recovered and now it has been restored to the exact configuration of March 1999.
13 different patents were registered for the tub and passenger cell before the unveiling. The use of composite materials in a car with such innovative technologies and processes, made this one of the safest in the world. Chassis 001 is equipped with the original Mercedes-Benz 6-litre V12 engine with an output of 443bhp, which in the early 2000s achieved excellent results in terms of performance and set lap records on some of the most important circuits of the world.
Also at display at Geneva is an one-off example of the Huayra Roadster, the company’s current production car. The car features a fully exposed Blue carbonfiber body in a matt finish and white accents. This is the colour combination proposed by the carbonfiber craftsmen at Pagani Automobili for the Huayra Roadster to showcase their creativity and attention to every detail.
The Pagani Huayra Roadster gets a 6-litre Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 making 735bhp and 1000Nm. With all the carbonfiber and use of other lighter components, the car tips the scales at 1280kg.
