Britain’s Norton Motorcycles has announced its entry into the Indian market. At the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, Norton highlighted its expansion plans, which include introducing new products and entering into new markets like India. As part of this, TVS Motor Company has also announced a significant investment of GBP 200 million (~ Rs 2172 crore).

New Norton motorcycles coming

Although no further details were revealed about the upcoming motorcycles, Norton Motorcycles confirmed that it is working on introducing six new motorcycles in the next three years. Norton Motorcycles has always been known for its high-performance motorcycles, and it should be expected that the new motorcycles will continue that trend. As of right now, the brand has three motorcycles in its portfolio – Commando 961, V4SV and the V4CR.

The Norton Commando 961 has been in existence since 1967.

Global expansion plans

As part of its growth plan, Norton Motorcycles also aims to expand its sales network, both in existing countries as well as enter new markets. The brand also revealed that its initial focus would be on countries like the USA, Germany, France, Italy and India. To support its growth, TVS Motor Company, its owner since 2020, has also announced a significant investment of GBP 200 million (~ Rs 2172 crore). This investment would go towards new product development, facilities, R&D and engineering.

The Norton V4CR is a cafe racer based on the V4SV superbike.

Dr Robert Hentschel, executive director and CEO, said, “The investment in research and development and leadership has us positioned to take six exciting products to countries across the world, with world-class quality and scale, spelling another epoch of success in the Norton story. Our focus on design, drivability and details will maximise the exciting opportunity for Norton as well as for those new customers that choose one of our motorcycles.”

Norton Motorcycles’ ambitious expansion plans, bolstered by TVS Motor Company’s investment, marks a new start for the iconic brand. With recent leadership changes and plans to launch new products, the brand’s future looks exciting. We are particularly excited about the brand’s entry into India and hope to see thrilling new options for motorcycle enthusiasts.
