Morris Garages (MG) Motors has opened its second flagship Experience Store in Cynergy IT Park, Prabhadevi, Mumbai, bringing the total number of MG showrooms in Mumbai to seven. The brand plans to bring that number up to eleven by March 2020. This is in tune with the brand’s overall objective, as they plan to expand their network to 250 centres pan-India, from the current figure of 120.
MG has differentiated its flagship showroom from the others with the storefront façade, which consists of a grille that, the brand says, signifies the confluence of the sky and the earth, a theme that continues within the showroom. Being that MG Motors boasts of classic British heritage, visitors are greeted by replicas of British cultural icons like the Big Ben, Union Jack, telephone booths and street lamps, along with strategically-placed MG memorabilia about the brand’s history.
Strongly contrasting with the historical theme is the LED wall section, which, once again, plays informative videos to further communicate the brand’s past glories as well as future plans to visitors.
The final two sections, the Engineering wall and the Live Vehicle Configurator, are related somewhat, as the first one gives visitors a glimpse into the technologies employed within the MG Hector, whereas the latter allows potential buyers a chance to customise the look, feel and accessories they’d like their own Hector to come equipped with.
Currently, MG has the Hector mid-size SUV on sale in India, priced at Rs 12.18 lakh (petrol) and Rs 13.18 lakh (diesel) for the base Style variant and going up to Rs 16.78 lakh (petrol) and Rs 16.88 lakh (diesel) for the top-end Sharp variant. MG has been doing brisk business with the Hector, and is poised to launch of the ZS electric SUV, which will join a niche market currently occupied singularly by the Hyundai Kona.
