Despite the lockdown woes, MG Motors sold more cars than it did in February. MG sold more units of the Hector in March, helping not only the company but also combating the overall trend of slow sales figures due to the Coronavirus outbreak. As of now, production for the MG plant remains suspended due to the government orders of a nationwide lockdown to help tackle the pandemic. MG has announced a Rs 2 crore grant towards procuring gloves, masks, medicines, ventilators, and beds to help fight the battle against Coronavirus.

MG motors sold a total of 1518 vehicles in the month of March as compared to just 1376 units the previous month. MG made its debut in India almost a year back with the introduction of the Hector, its sole product till the addition of an electric ZS electric SUV. With these sales figures, MG hope to bolster that number and take on its rivals the Hyundai Kona. For an electric car, this ZS EV has been doing healthy sales numbers with its selling a total of 116 units in March.

To address the current pandemic situation across the country, MG has started of few initiatives across it showrooms. Among them is the sanitised delivery system to ensure zero contact with customers when they take delivery of the new MG Hector. The company is also looking to carry forward this process post the lockdown period also, and make it a permanent process.

Another advantage for MG motors India is that they have cleared all the BS4 stock, and now only have the BS6 stock that had recently begun production. However, due to the lockdown, some of the current BS6 stock is slowly making its way to all the dealerships across the country.
