Maruti Suzuki has taken a step forward to strengthen its green technology footprint in India by launching the new WagonR S-CNG. The ‘S’ in S-CNG stands for ‘smart’ and the new WagonR will be available in two Lxi variants, Lxi and Lxi(O) and will be powered by the 1.0-litre engine. The Lxi variant is launched at Rs 4.84 lakh and the Lxi(O) variant costs Rs 4.89 lakh, ex showroom, Delhi.

The new WagonR comes with dual ECU and ‘intelligent-Gas Port injection technology. The company says that this delivers calibrated quantity of fuel to the engine, leading to better fuel efficiency and better drivability. Moreover, the packaging of the gas tank in the boot is designed in way to accommodate a spare tyre.
Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicle sales contribute to around 15% of the total sales of the range. The company presently offers this option in seven of its models- Alto800, AltoK10, WagonR, Celerio, Eeco, Super Carry and Tour S). Cumulatively over five lakh customers have selected Maruti Suzuki factory-fitted CNG vehicles. It will be available in states the provide the necessary infrastructure which include Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, part of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
