With carmakers slowly resuming operations, manufacturers have began rolling out newer models and variants to revive sales. Volkswagen India too is looking to get back on track. After launching the T-Roc digitally last month, the German carmaker has now launched a new limited edition TSI variant for the Polo and Vento at Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh, respectively.

The limited edition cars are based on the HL Plus variants. For the Polo TSI, the HL Plus (Limited) avails a price advantage of Rs 10,000. The Vento on the other hand offers more bang for the buck with the HL Plus (Limited) costing Rs 1 lakh less than the regular variant.

Changes are rather minimal. The only new bits on this limited run variant are the sporty graphics and the TSI badging enhancing the sporty appeal of these turbo-petrol cars.

Both the Polo and Vento were upgraded recently with BS6 powertrains. The highlight is the group’s new 1-litre TSI engine, that replaces the old 1.2-litre TSI unit. It produces 108bhp and 175Nm of torque, with the power output being 6bhp more than the outgoing powerplant. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 7-speed DSG is something we’ll definitely miss, especially on the Polo.
