The Indian Navy, in association with the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association is undertaking a maritime awareness coastal motor car expedition – “Sam No Varunah” – which will cover the entire Indian coastline in March 2023. Surrounded by seas from three sides, India has a coastline of approximately 7500km, and taking part in this rally will be a convoy of 12 Mahindra SUVs – including the Mahindra Scorpio-N, the Mahindra XUV700 and the Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport. The rally will be flagged off on March 26.

The objectives of the Sam No Varunah expedition are to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, while also conducting awareness drives along the route about the various career opportunities that the Indian Navy offers, including the Agnipath scheme. The drive will also spread awareness about India’s maritime heritage and history which includes various ports, forts and lighthouses, and will showcase Naari Shakti with the participation of serving women officers and naval vibes. The Naval Veterans / Veer Naaris would also be interacting with people when the expedition is enroute.

The expedition will be flagged off from the INS Netaji Subhas on March 26 in Kolkata, and will culminate at Lakhpat Gujarat on April 19. On March 28, the rally will arrive at INS Chilka to attend the passing ceremony of the first batch of Agniveers of the Indian Navy. In total, the expedition spans over 25 days.
