Hyundai Motor Company has now officially taken wraps off the latest generation of the Kona SUV. With a revamped design and upgraded features, the Kona now looks more sporty and far more radical than it already does. Only the ICE Kona has been unveiled as of now, with the Kona Electric likely to be unveiled at a later date.

The side body retains the muscular and sculpted shape from the previous model

In addition to the standard Kona, Hyundai has also added an N-line trim as well. The Kona now in a new avatar gets a distinguishable body colour treatment for the wheel arch claddings, the rugged skid plate as seen on predecessor models now gets replaced by the N-style aerodynamic lip with low lying corner fins and gets a distinguishable mesh design as well.

Under the hood, the Kona will be available in three powertrain options – a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to a seven-speed DCT transmission, a 1.6-litre diesel engine that can be had either with a seven-speed DCT or a six-speed iMT box and an optional four-wheel-drive system. Apart from these two powertrains, also on offer is a 1.0-litre petrol engine mated to a six-speed DCT. There is a mild hybrid variant as well, and it gets a seven-speed DCT or six-speed manual transmission.

Now gets a 10.25-inch digital cluster

On the inside, Hyundai has upped the game. With new ambient light technology around the cup holders, brushed metal accents around the speakers and AC vents, black and grey embossings on the cloth seats with new colour and material options contribute a lot to the high level of quality and refinement. Also, the Kona gets extra cargo capacity and increased rear-seat legroom offering more accommodation and comfort.

The new Kona is 40mm longer than the previous model

As for now, we cannot be sure if the ICE and N-line trims will go on sale in India but the updated Kona EV should make it here with these styling updates.
