Hyundai has unveiled the 2021 Sonata N Line globally. The Sonata N Line will be the first mid-size sedan from Hyundai to be offered in an N line trim. Back in 2019, Hyundai unveiled the Sonata and Sonata Hybrid variants and the newest addition of the N Line variant completes the Sonata lineup.
Based on Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, the Sonata N line gets a parametric jewel pattern grille, wider air intakes and N Line badging. The N Line is 5mm lower and gets arrow-shaped air curtains on the front for improved aerodynamic performance and also gives the car a sporty stance. At the rear, the Sonata N Line gets a glossy black lip spoiler, dual chrome exhausts and N line rear diffuser. The N Line trim of the Sonata runs on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the Sonata N Line gets a 2.5-litre turbocharged GDi engine that produces a 286bhp and 448Nm of torque. The standard Sonata makes roughly 100bhp less and Hyundai managed to extract more performance thanks to the addition of a turbocharger, different cylinder head and unique internals. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that was specially designed for N Line models.
On the inside, there’s a leather-wrapped perforated steering wheel, sporty seats with red stitching and N Line badging on the seatbacks, a gear lever with metallic accents and alloy foot pedals. The Sonata N Line comes equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment system paired to a twelve-speaker Bose audio system. A 12.3-inch instrument cluster gives out four different views of utility, driver assistance, navigation and parking assistance. Features like touch sensors on the outer door handles, remote start, wireless charging and a digital key are on offer as well.
It is unlikely that the Sonata N line will make its way to India. However, Hyundai did showcase the i30 N Fastback at Auto Expo 2020 and we hope that someday we’ll get to drive any of the exciting N cars from Hyundai that up until now we’ve only been reading about.
