Hyundai has officially revealed the N Line version for the Sonata earlier today. Apart from a more powerful engine, the Sonata N Line will come with sportier styling and interiors to match. This new N Line variant adds to the Sonata lineup that already features a standard version and hybrid.
On the outside, the Sonata N Line gets black treatment on the bumpers and grille, extra air intakes up front, N Line badging on the exteriors and dark chrome accents. On the inside, the N Line gets sportier seats with the N badge embossed on the seatbacks.
We have no information about the N Line’s powertrain but a recent announcement from Hyundai stated that we can expect the Sonata N Line to be on offer with a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be producing at least 286bhp and will be paired to an eight-speed DCT. Also, the ride height of the N Line variant is lowered by 5mm as compared to the standard car.
Speaking about the Sonata N Line, SangYup Lee, Head of Hyundai’s Global design centre said, “ The 2021 Sonata N Line will attract more customers to both the rock-solid Sonata lineup and our increasingly popular N Line sub-brand. Sonata N Line will appeal to customers who desire sporty styling in a sedan package.”
It is unlikely that the Sonata N Line will make it to India anytime soon, but Hyundai has showcased the N brand in India with the i30 N Fastback at Auto Expo 2020. Hyundai’s cars have become sportier over the years, with improved ride and handling and new turbocharged engines. Maybe the time is right for an N Line car to now make an appearance?
