It is aligned with Hyundai’s global vision of progress for humanity which aims to enable an inclusive world through the power of mobility. With Samarth, Hyundai aims to create a more aware society towards people with disabilities in India.

This makes Hyundai Motor India the first automobile brand to launch a mobility project at a mass scale. Hyundai will be partnering with NGOs and media networks while aligning their dealerships to become more accessible.

Partnership with GoSports Foundation & Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) (CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India) in partnership with GoSports Foundation will start an exclusive program to support para-athletes in India in both team and individual sports. The partnership with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled will support individuals with assistive devices. They will also use blind cricket as a platform for the physical and social development of the visually impaired in the country. Various activities such as training camps at grass root and national levels will be conducted along with the organising of an International bilateral series for the national blind cricket team to give them a bigger platform to showcase their talents.

Hyundai Motor internal efforts

To make its digital presence accessible to all, Hyundai is working on ensuring that its website is user-friendly for people with disabilities. The physical business locations and dealerships will be revamped to be more accessible to people with disabilities enhancing their overall customer experience, aiming to be 100 per cent wheelchair accessible by February 2024.

Hyundai is also developing and introducing swivel seats with MOBIS which is an attempt to make their cars user-friendly for the differently abled. This blends in well with their commitment to making cars that are both fitting the requirements of the differently abled along with a focus on their safety and comfort.

On the launch of ‘Samarth’ initiative, Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO, HMIL said, “We don’t just make cars but also believe in empowering India, and to empower India, we undertake social initiatives under the pillars of - Earth, Mobility and Hope. These are aligned with Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Continue’ and propagate ‘Progress for Humanity’. Samarth is a manifestation of this belief. We are pleased to announce the launch of ‘Samarth’ initiative, which is a step towards creating a more aware and inclusive society for differently abled in India. We aim to cultivate a more equitable and sensitized society for the differently abled and want them to see their true capabilities.”

With the launch of this initiative, Hyundai’s aim to create awareness and empower people with disability has surely got a major boost and platform to create a change in people’s lives.
