The coronavirus pandemic is bringing the best out of everyone as the world collectively battles to contain the impact of this deadly disease. Following in the footsteps of brands like Mahindra and Mahindra and Mercedes-Benz India, Hyundai Motor India Limited too is extending its support to fight the spread of this infectious disease.
Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the CSR arm of HMIL will contribute in relief funds and also provide the Indian medical fraternity with personal protective equipment (PPE) and patient care equipment. Hyundai is set to make a contribution in the recently announced PM CARES fund along with a separate donation in Tamil Nadu chief minister’s public relief fund. The brand has also imported advanced COVID-19 diagnostic kits from South Korea.
That said, Hyundai will collaborate with a local ventilator manufacturer to enhance the production and meet the growing demand. Taking advantage of its technological knowhow and its strong manufacturing capacity, the South Korean brand has also developed an in-house prototype ventilator and submitted it to the respective authorities for inspection and approval for its usage.
The coronavirus outbreak has caused a bloodbath in automotive sales this year. Hyundai, the country’s second largest carmaker saw a drop of 41 per cent in its sales compared to March 2019. The all-new Creta, despite having been launched during such tough circumstances, has received over 14,000 bookings and Hyundai has managed to dispatch 6,703 Cretas ahead of the lockdown.
