Hyundai Motors has tied up with French company Air Liquide medical system for production and supply for ventilators in Tamil Nadu and other states. The French company already has its subsidiary present in India, based out of Chennai, and with this partnership Hyundai is looking to produce and supply a thousand ventilators in the first phase and plans to scale up. Hyundai has put its CSR division, the Hyundai India Foundation, to action in enabling all these initiatives to combat COVID-19.

Commenting on this arrangement with Air Liquide Medical Systems, SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “Ventilators and other respiratory aids are critical devices in the fight against COVID-19 and to this end, Hyundai & Air Liquide Medical Systems are working together to ensure a steady supply of ventilators in India. As a socially responsible and caring brand, Hyundai is committed to serving society in every way and will continue to support the Government in India’s war against COVID-19.”

Ventilators are the medical devices used to deliver air with a high concentration of oxygen to the lungs to help assist people to breathe on their own. Currently there is a massive shortage of ventilators in the country, hence many automotive manufacturers are assisting with the manufacturing of ventilators. This is just one of the initiatives the Korean manufacturer has taken up; it has already handed over advanced diagnostic testing kits imported from South Korea worth Rs 4 crore. At the same time, it is also running a marketing campaign to spread awareness about the COVID-19 and coronavirus pandemic.
