Ford India has introduced a new automatic variant for its compact SUV — the EcoSport in the Titanium trim at a starting price of Rs 10.66 Lakh. Previously the automatic variant was available only in the Titanium Plus which costs Rs 11.56 lakh; 90,000 more than the Titanium.

The Titanium automatic variant will be on offer with a six-speed torque converter gearbox that is mated to a three-cylinder BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine belting out 120bhp and 149Nm of peak torque.

The Titanium trim to get segment first paddle shifters

New features on the Titanium automatic variant include segment-first paddle shifters, cruise control and a start/stop push button. Also, the touchscreen infotainment system with embedded navigation, dual airbags, traction control system, electronic stability control (ESC) and hill launch assist among other features.

It also gets FordPass which is a smartphone app meeting diverse ownership needs, at no additional cost. This app will allow owners to perform several vehicle operations such as start/stop, lock/unlock etc, remotely.

Speaking at the launch of the automatic variant, Vinay Raina, Executive Director for Marketing, Sales and service at Ford India said, “With the new Titanium trim in the 2020 EcoSport line-up, we wish more consumers to enjoy the convenience of an automatic without compromising on the fun-of-driving. The outstanding value on offer will ensure that consumers no longer settle for underwhelming automatic technologies available in the market,”.

Ford EcoSport was the first compact SUV in the country when it was launched seven years ago but it now faces stiff competition from the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 300 and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
