Discovering the fastest roads with the fastest cars

Fast cars, fastest road

10 years ago, the Ed came to Rajasthan looking for the fastest road in the country with an Audi R8 and a Suzuki Hayabusa. In a bid to recreate that story, we head back to Rajasthan with an even more accomplished bunch of cars and an even more spectacular stretch of tarmac. McLaren hasn’t officially entered the country but there are a handful of cars around — and this Papaya Orange 570S Coupe is one of them. With a Ferrari 488 Spider, Lamborghini Huracan Evo and Huracan Evo Spyder for perspective, all members of Club GT In Kolkata, we go tearing down the most spectacular piece of tarmac we have ever seen in this country.

Thar to the Thar

This was one of the most fun road trips we’ve done in a while! Driving the Thar to the Thar desert involved getting though cities, open highways and village roads. Everywhere we drove, we were mobbed by locals wanting a closer look, and faced a barrage of questions about our cars. We put the Thar’s mile-munching ability, comfort, practicality and off-road ability to the test, but more importantly, our eyes were opened to the allure that this SUV has. There may be a number of SUVs that would be more comfortable on the road, but none of them can tackle dunes like the Thar did and then drive you 2000km back home. And that’s what makes it special.
