BMW Motorrad had already launched the F 750 GS and F 850 GS last year, and now has gone ahead and launched an ‘Adventure’ version of its F 850 GS at the EICMA Motorcycle show atMilan. The 850 GS Adventure features better offroad capability along with plenty of essential tech and safety features for 2019.

The F 850 GS Adventure is powered by a 853cc, 2-cylinder inline motor that is tuned to produce 95bhp at 8,250rpm and 92 Nm at 6,250rpm. The motor employs a crankshaft with a 90 degree crankpin offset, 270/450 degree ignition spacing and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine has two counter-balance shafts that help reduce engine vibes.

The frame is bridge type frame which uses the motor as a co-supporting element. The 23-litre fuel tank is placed between the steering head and the seat, in an effort to lower the centre of gravity.  The ‘Adventure’ gets a large adjustable windshield, wide footsteps, engine protection bars, a stainless steel luggage rack and much needed adjustable shift and foot brake levers. Enhancing the offroad capability is a new upside-down telescopic fork at the front with aluminium two-sided swinging arm with central spring strut at the rear.

Catering to individual rider personalisation, the BMW F 850 GS Adventure has two riding modes, Road and Rain as standard while Pro, Enduro, Enduro Pro and Dynamic are available as optional add-ons. Along with ABS, the ‘Adventure’ also gets automatic stability control (ASC) function for enhanced safety. The ADV also features LED lighting all-around along with optional LED auxiliary lights. It gets a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT instrument console with ‘Intelligent emergency call’ as an optional add-on function.
