Dakar 2021 Stage 4 | Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Nasser Al-Attiyah leads the charge

Carlos Sainz delivers an outstanding performance and makes up time after yesterday’s navigational error

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Nasser Al-Attiyah took his third stage win today. Along with co-driver Matthieu Baumel, Al-Attiyah started the stage first and maintained pace and rank throughout the special stage, finishing in 02:35:59 hours. Stephane Peterhansel and co-driver Edouard Boulanger of X-Raid Mini JCW Team finished second with a gap of 11 seconds. Dakar rookie, Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Henk Lategan along with co-driver Brett Cummings finished the stage third.

Carlos Sainz of X-Raid Mini JCW Team put up an exciting show for us all and finished fifth today, which was a much better result compared to yesterday’s P21 finish. Sebastian Loeb of Team BRX seems to be making progress today with the new Hunter, as he finished fourth.Todays’ stage saw the competitors travel from Wadi Ad-Dawasir to Riyadh for a total of 630 km of which the special stage was 403 km long.

Stephane Peterhansel and co-driver Edouard Boulanger of X-Raid Mini JCW Team continue to lead, while Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-driver Matthieyu Baumel of Toyota Gazoo Racing are in second position but are steadily closing in on Stephane Peterhansel. Carlos Sainz and co-driver Lucas Cruz of X-Raid Mini JCW Team courtesy of their stellar performance today are back in third position and Sebastian Loeb with co-driver Daniel Elena have moved up to P4. Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings of Toyota Gazoo Racing are in P5.

Stage five of the 2021 Dakar Rally will be flagged off and the contestants will be traversing from Riyadh to Al Qaisumah for a total of 660 km of which the special stage will be a long and arduous 456 km.
