Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor launched, prices start at ₹7.73 lakh, ex-showroom

Toyota India has launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor, a crossover hatchback which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will be available with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated, petrol engine or the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Prices for the Urban Cruiser Taisor start at ₹7.73 lakh and go all the way up to ₹13.03 lakh, ex-showroom for the range-topping ‘V’ variant which comes with the turbo-petrol engine and a six-speed torque-convertor automatic gearbox. Here’s what you need to know about the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. 

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor design

The Taisor is based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and to that end looks nearly identical. The shape and overall silhouette of the car remains unchanged. Toyota has however made some minor design tweaks to give the Taisor an identity of its own. The bumpers have been redesigned and the front also features a new honeycomb design grill along with a new design for the LED DRLs. At the rear, the tail lights also feature a new design for the LED units. Finally the 16-inch diamond-cut alloys feature a new 10-spoke design. The Urban Cruiser Taisor will be available in five single-tone colours — Lucent Orange, Sportin Red, Cape White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Great and three dual-tone colours — Sportin Red, Enticing Silver and Cape White, all three of which will be accented with a Midnight Black colour scheme. 

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor powertrain 

The Urban Cruiser Taisor can be optioned with the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. This engine is good for 88.5bhp at 6000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4400rpm. This engine is also available with an E CNG variant power figures for which stand at 76bhp and 98.5Nm of torque at 4300rpm. The second engine option, the one that enthusiasts will enjoy more, is the 1-litre turbo-petrol K-series engine that is good for 98.6bhp at 5500rpm and 147.6Nm of torque at 2000-4500rpm. This engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque convertor gearbox. 

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor interiors and features

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor features a dual-tone interior which is made up of brown and black upholstery. On the top-end variant you get a 9-inch infotainment screen which comes with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. The base and middle variants get a 7-inch infotainment unit. Other features include a heads up display, climate control, 360-degree camera, cruise control, wireless charging and so on. On the safety front, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD are standard across the range while side and curtain airbags are available on the ‘G’ and ‘V’ variants.

Prices for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor with the 1.2-litre NA engine start at ₹7.73 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to ₹9.52 lakh, ex-showroom for the top-end S+ AMT variant. Prices for the Urban Cruiser Taisor with the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine start at  ₹10.55 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to ₹13.03 lakh, ex-showroom for the dual-tone colour scheme with the torque converter gearbox.
