The Mahindra BE 6e has been launched at ₹18.90 lakh, but rivals the premium segment EVs in terms of range, power, and features.

The Mahindra BE 6e has been launched in India at ₹18.90 lakh. It’s an electric coupe SUV that blends futuristic design, advanced technology, and impressive performance. The cabin features a panoramic infinity glass roof, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a floating HUD, and twin screens. The INGLO platform gets a RWD drivetrain with 282bhp, and offers up to 656km of range. It will rival the likes of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tata Curvv EV, and the Mercedes-Benz EQA.

The Mahindra BE 6e is an EV coupe SUV that blends a futuristic design language with cutting-edge technology. Its aerodynamic profile is accentuated by a floating front spoiler, a sloping roofline, and an optimised two-part rear spoiler. You get C-shaped bi-LED headlamps, C-shaped LED tail lamps, and an illuminated logo. It rides on 18-inch aero wheels, gets a 207mm ground clearance, and a 2775mm wheelbase. Practicality is enhanced with a generous 455-litre boot, and 45-litre frunk.

Inside, the Mahindra BE 6e gets twin screens, and a floating HUD. Sound is delivered via a 1400W 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and QLI Immersive technology. There’s a panoramic infinity glass roof with 16 million colours, and the gear lever is inspired by aircraft thrusters. It gets seven airbags, intelligent semi-active suspension, and a structure aimed at securing a five-star crash safety rating. Advanced connectivity is powered by MAIA, Mahindra’s AI architecture, running on Qualcomm hardware with 24GB RAM and 128GB storage. Unique features include in-car Zoom call capability, selfie cameras with filters, and Level 2+ ADAS functionality, including driver-initiated auto lane change with just an indicator signal.

The Mahindra BE 6e offers two battery options: a 79kWh pack providing a 656 km ARAI-certified range (real-world range of more than 500km) and a 59kWh pack for over 400 km, both featuring “cell-to-pack” technology for improved density and durability. Fast charging from 20 per cent to 80 per cent is possible in just 20 minutes using a 175kW fast charger. It is powered by single motor placed on the rear axle that pushes out 282bhp and 380Nm, and goes from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. It gets four driving modes – Boost, Race, Everyday, and Range. The Pack 1 variant which was launched today gets the 59kWh battery, and a motor that makes 228bhp. 

Mahindra BE 6e price and rivals

The Mahindra BE 6e is priced from ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) with an approximate on-road cost of ₹20.36 lakh (in Chennai). The BE 6e doesn’t have a direct competitor but goes up against the likes of the Kia EV6, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mercedes-Benz EQA. Prices for the 79kWh variant will be revealed in the upcoming days. Deliveries are set to begin from February 2025.
