Kia Syros scores five star safety rating at Bharat NCAP

The Kia Syros has scored five stars for both adult occupant protection as well as child occupant protection.;

The Kia Syros has scored five stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, scoring 5 stars for both adult and child occupant protection. The Syros scored 30.21 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection, along with a score of 44.42 points out of 49 when it comes to child occupant protection. The Syros was also subjected to safety tests including the Offset Deformable Barrier (ODB) Frontal Impact, Mobile Deformable Barrier (MDB) Side Impact test, and the Pole Side Impact test. Bharat NCAP tested the petrol version of the Syros and hence these safety ratings are valid for the petrol version of the car.




As per the safety report, the Syros offers good protection for the head and neck of both front occupants. However, the chest protection for the driver is adequate while the co-passenger gets good chest protection. Both the driver and co-passenger knees are rated as adequately protected.

Kia Syros safety features

The Syros comes with six airbags as standard and Level 2 ADAS which gets features such as smart cruise control, front collision warning, lane keep assist, high beam assist, blind view monitor and a driver attention warning. It is equipped with a safety pack consisting of 20 standard active and passive features which include ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP, vehicle stability management, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts on the rear seat and a three-point rear seatbelt.




Kia Syros engines, price and rivals

The Kia Syros is a compact SUV that sits between the Sonet and Seltos. It is available with either a 1-litre turbo petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel, both of which can be mated to either a manual or an automatic transmission. The Syros is offered in 13 variants with prices starting from ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and going all the way up to ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Although the Syros does not have a direct rival, in terms of pricing, it competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV3XO (five stars at Bharat NCAP), Skoda Kylaq (five stars at Bharat NCAP), Tata Nexon (five stars at Bharat NCAP), Maruti Suzuki Brezza (current model yet to be tested, previous model scored four stars at Global NCAP), Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet (both of them not tested yet).
