We’ve got wind that the Skoda Kushaq is getting a special edition for its 1.5-litre model. The Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo edition will be launched with a price reveal on May 9. The Monte Carlo edition will get several aesthetic changes over the regular 1.5 TSI, but the engine is not expected to get any changes. Here’s what we can expect from the Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition.

One of the biggest peeves that we have had with Skoda is the lack of differentiation between the 1-litre TSI engined models and the 1.5-litre TSI models. Now, Skoda is rectifying this by adding the option of the Monte Carlo edition for those who want their car to be different from the 1-litre. The Monte Carlo edition will get the same 17-inch wheels but with a new design, along with a new rear spoiler and differentiated Monte Carlo edition badging. There will be new dual-tone colour options in red and white with a blacked out roof. It is speculated that Skoda might also change the chrome accents to blacked out accents.

The Monte Carlo edition will get minimal changes to the interior that bring a bit more sporty flair to it. The interiors will be completely blacked out, with a new digital cockpit from the Volkswagen Taigun. The interior will also get all the amenities already present in the top-spec Style variant of the Kushaq, such as the 10-inch infotainment system and safety features including six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold control, traction control, and multi-collision brake assist.

As we’ve already mentioned, the Monte Carlo edition gets the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine also used in the Style variant of the car. Producing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque, Skoda will give you the option of a Manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic. Paddle-shifters will also be present on the DSG option.

Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo edition pricing

The Monte Carlo edition's legacy starts from the Skoda Popular Monte Carlo edition from 1937

The Monte Carlo edition will be priced at a premium over the Style variant, by a margin of ₹1 lakh. In our opinion, the additional features and differentiators between it and the 1-litre are a much needed upgrade and should have been included from the beginning. However, the Monte Carlo edition has a long history for Skoda, starting from the original Skoda Popular Monte Carlo, which was a celebration of Skoda’s participation in the Monte Carlo rally. The Skoda Rapid was the most recent Skoda in India to get a Monte Carlo edition.
