Lamborghini has been on a bit of a roll lately with its SUV, the Lamborghini Urus and not too long ago after Lamborghini celebrated 200 deliveries of the super SUV in India, a yet to be revealed Urus model has set a new record for production SUVs at the famed Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The record was set by hill climb champion and Pirelli test driver Simone Faggioli behind the wheel of a camouflaged Urus, starting from an altitude of 2862 meters going all the way up to the finish line at 4302 meters, tackling the 156 corners and crossing the line in 10:32:064. However, as the new Urus has not yet been revealed, it was not entered in the official race but the time was recorded by timekeepers of Pike Peak International Hillclimb, beating the previous record set by a Bentley Bentayga in 2018 which stood at 10:49:902, making the Urus nearly 17 seconds faster.

The upcoming Urus used for the record run was equipped with the standard twin-turbo V8 engine and was modified to comply with the Pike’s Peak’s safety regulations, with a roll cage, racing seats with a six-point harness and a fire extinguishing system installed. However, the tyres used for the run were Pirelli P ZERO Trofeo Rs, with semi-slicks being developed for the first time for an SUV.
