The Lamborghini Urus has always been a SUV that was bonkers in every sense of the word. And if you think that wasn’t enough, Lamborghini has gone and upped the ante with the introduction of the Urus Performante. The Urus Performante has already been making headlines even before it was revealed, with the Super SUV setting a new Pikes Peak record not too long ago, and here’s what the Performante has to offer over the already ballistic standard Urus.

Lamborghini Urus Performante engine and performance

The main talking point about any Lamborghini has always been the performance, and that continues to be the case with the Urus Performante, with the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 from the standard model being massaged to produce 657bhp, translating to a 16bhp bump in power. Lamborghini claim a 0-100kmph time of just 3.3 seconds, with the top speed being a mind-boggling 306kmph. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the Urus Performante also gets Pirelli PZERO Trofeo R semi-slicks to put down the additional power on tap, and this is the first time that Pirelli has developed semi-slicks for application in an SUV.

Lamborghini Urus Performante design

In terms of design, the Performante does look identical to the standard Urus, with a revised front end that looks angrier and more aggressive. The bonnet, which includes an air vent has been forged from lightweight carbonfiber and it can be had in the body colour or in the option of partially visible carbonfiber. The roof can also be had in carbonfiber as an option. There’s a new front bumper with a carbonfiber splitter and the rear gets a newly-designed spoiler too. Extensive use of carbonfiber has meant a reduction in weight by 47kg, and the Performante also sits lower than the standard Urus by 20mm, with the track being wider by 16mm. 22-inch forged lightweight alloy wheels come as standard on the Performante, with 23-inchers being optional. The Urus Performante also gets a lower rear bumper and rear diffuser finished in carbonfiber, housing a lightweight titanium Akrapovic sports exhaust as standard.

The interiors are now sportier

The Urus Performance gets a cabin featuring Nero Cosmus black Alcantara upholstery as standard with a new hexagonal seat stitching design. There’s leather on offer too as an option, with plenty of customisation possibilities with Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program. The Tamburo drive mode selector now features a new Rally drive mode in addition to the traditional Strada, Sport and Corsa modes present earlier. This mode promises to make the Urus more fun on dirt tracks, amplifying its oversteer-y character.

Expect the Urus Performante to come to India soon

Lamborghini Urus Performante pricing and rivals

Lamborghini hasn’t revealed prices for the Urus Performante, but it is very likely that the SUV India-bound and will be priced at premium of Rs 40 to 50 lakh over the standard SUV, nudging the price to around the Rs 4 crore mark, putting it up against rivals like the Bentley Bentayga S and the go-faster versions of the Porsche Cayenne.
