Ferrari in an official statement announced the demise of its GTC4 Lusso and GTC4 Lusso T models. The Italian marque took this step to make way for its upcoming SUV – the Purosangue that is slated to launch in 2022.
Ferrari introduced the GTC4 Lusso in 2016 as a replacement for the FF. Positioned as Ferrari’s most practical model, the GTC4 Lusso was powered by a 6.2-litre V12 engine that produced 680bhp of power and got an all-wheel-drive system whereas the GTC4 Lusso T was introduced in 2018 as a more affordable, entry-level version with a 3.8-litre V8 engine and rear-wheel drive, similar to that of the California T. With a four-seat arrangement and a usable boot space, the GTC4 Lusso attracted a lot of young buyers.
An authorised spokesperson on behalf of Ferrari said that “ In accordance with its five-year model strategy announced in 2017 and the company’s standard model life cycle, Ferrari has phased out production of the GTC4 Lusso and GTC4 Lusso T”.
As of now, there is no official statement about the Purosangue or its powertrain. Ferrari has begun deliveries of its plug-in hybrid supercar, the SF90 Stradale after a delay due to covid-19.
