The Dodge Challenger is the ultimate American driving machine, and the only thing it has been missing since its revival in 2008 was a convertible variant. The last Challenger to have a convertible variant was the original one in 1970. Now, to coincide with the end of the line for the Challenger and Charger muscle cars in 2023, Dodge is finally offering the Challenger with a convertible variant from the dealership. But with a twist.

The convertible option will essentially be a dealer option. If selected, Dodge will then send your car to Drop Top Customs, a coach-builder, to convert the car to a convertible spec. Then, it will be returned to the dealership from where you can continue your purchase of the car as per normal. The convertible option from Drop Top Customs will also include many creature comforts to make the wind-in-yo-hair life more relaxing, including a powered drop-top roof, fully padded interiors and a heated glass rear window.

With this, the Dodge Challenger finally joins the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro in having a convertible model in its lineup and will join one of the other seven special edition models that Dodge has prepared to celebrate the end of production for what has quickly become one of the most beloved nameplates in modern automotive history. Will the Dodge Challenger convertible return as an EV soon? Don’t lose hope in it.
