Citroen has updated its C3 Aircross compact SUV with an automatic gearbox. The 6-speed AT is a torque-converter unit and features a gated shifter. Also available is a manual shift mode with push for upshifts and pull for downshifts. The C3 Aircross is still powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder putting out 108bhp. However, the automatic variant offers a torque advantage at 205Nm peak torque, which is an increase of 15Nm over the manual variant. The Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic also boasts an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.6 kmpl.

The automatic variant of the Citroen C3 Aircross also gets new features like remote engine start and remote AC preconditioning through the MyCitroen Connect app. However, keyless entry and cruise control are still absent. The rest of the car remains identical, and keeps all the strengths and weaknesses of the manual variant. Citroen says that the C3 Aircross is well-suited to the Indian family. To that extent, it gets a 5+2 layout, 10-inch infotainment display featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and roof-mounted AC vents for the second and third rows.

Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic price

With its gearbox upgrade, Citroen says that the C3 Aircross Automatic is India’s most affordable SUV over four metres featuring an automatic transmission. The new Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic starts at an introductory price of Rs 12.84 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 13.84 lakh for the 5+2-seater variant. This marks a Rs 2.85 lakh increase over the starting price of the manual C3 Aircross. It will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta (Rs 10.99 lakh ex-showroom), Volkswagen Taigun (Rs 11.69 lakh ex-showroom), and Honda Elevate (Rs 11.58 lakh ex-showroom). It is worth noting that the aforementioned cars only get automatic transmissions higher up in the range, which comes with a significant price increase.
