The BMW X7 was always been a head turner since the luxury SUV was first launched, and now BMW has gone and given the X7 a facelift, with the SUV being launched in India at a price tag of Rs 1.22 crore. The X7 will be locally-assembled at BMW Group’s plant in Chennai, and it will be available with both a petrol and diesel powertrain.

BMW X7 facelift design

The BMW X7 continues to be an SUV that looks ‘in yo’ face’ with its massive kidney grille that gets chrome highlights and new LED headlamps with the split headlight design. This face is similar to the XM and the BMW 7 Series and i7. The bumpers are reprofiled as well and the 3D LED tail lamps get a new light signature. The India-spec X7 also gets 21-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of the cabin, the big change is the curved display that also debuted on newer models such as the BMW 3 Series Grand Limousine recently. Other than that, the layout is identical to the earlier X7, with BMW’s driver-centric interior. You get 15 colours for the ambient lighting and multiple options for the upholstery and interior trims. The X7 also gets a panoramic sunroof, along with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system and a powered tailgate. There is a 14.9-inch digital cockpit present on the X7, complimented by a HUD, and the infotainment screen is now a 12.3-inch unit, running BMW’s latest iDrive OS 8 that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with OTA updates.

BMW X7 engines

The BMW X7 can be had with two engine options – a 3-litre in-line six cylinder petrol engine that produces 375bhp and 700Nm of torque, and can achieve a claimed 0-100kmph time of 5.8 seconds. For the first time, the BMW X7 is also available with a 3-litre in-line six diesel engine that produces 335bhp of power and 520Nm of torque, with the 0-100kmph being 5.9 seconds (claimed). Both engines also feature a 48V electrical motor providing mild-hybrid assist, that gives an additional power output of 12bhp and 200Nm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
