BMW is celebrating 50 years of its fabled M Division and doing it in style. We have already gotten a slew of limited edition cars and SUVs this year, and the latest manifestation of the special treatment is the BMW X6 50 Jahre M Edition. Launched in India at Rs 1.11 crore, the new X6 is a head-turning ode to the absolute best and maddest that BMW M has to offer. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

The new X6 50 Jahre M Edition comes with several updates to its design, such as an all-illuminated and enlarged kidney grille along with gloss black accents. There are plenty of special M emblems all around the X6, with the retro design celebrating BMW’s Motorsport Division. There are two paint schemes on offer – Black Sapphire Metallic & M Carbon Black Metallic paint schemes and the X6 also gets 20-inch M alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey. The headlights feature BMW’s laserlight technology which provides a high beam function that illuminates the road up to 500 metres.

BMW X6 50 Jahre M Edition engine

The X6 50 Jahre M Edition is mechanically identical to the standard model, powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo inline-six petrol engine that produces 335bhp and 450Nm of torque, with the SUV sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 5.5 seconds (claimed), up to an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. This engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The X6 now sounds fruitier too, thanks to the M Sport exhaust system, while braking duties are handled by the M Sport brakes which feature callipers finished in high gloss red.

BMW X6 50 Jahre M Edition price

The BMW X6 50 Jahre M Edition will be brought to India as a CBU, launched at a price of Rs 1.11 crore. At this price, the X6 50 Jahre M Edition continues to rival the likes of the Range Rover Sport, the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Audi Q7, but the limited edition appeal of the BMW will definitely help it stand out against its rivals.
