BMW India has launched the Individual BMW 740Li M Sport in India. The flagship BMW will be sold in limited units at prices starting from Rs. 1.42 crore. The Individual 7 Series sits a step above the standard model with additional bespoke options, plusher interiors and design tweaks. It will also be the first BMW Individual model to be locally produced at the BMW plant in Chennai.
While the standard 7 Series looked anything but plain-jane, the Individual 740Li M Sport Edition has upped the ante in terms of road presence. The massive kidney grille is still in your face, followed by a generous dose of chrome on the redesigned front bumpers. The 7 now appears sharper and hunkered down with the M Sport bodywork, especially when viewed from the front three-quarters. The BMW LED Laserlights accentuate that effect. With the Individual edition, you also get two exclusive paint finishes – Tanzanite Blue and Dravit Grey, adding to the opulence of the 7 Series. While both the standard and Individual 7 Series get 19-inch wheels as standard, two different 20-inch wheels can be had as options on the Individual 740Li.
Step inside, and you are swathed in Nappa leather and Alcantara. While the basic layout of the cabin might be identical to the standard 7 Series, there are plenty of BMW Individual emblems reminding you that you are sitting in a special cabin. There’s plenty of kit on offer that has been carried over from the standard 7, including four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof with LED graphics, seats that are ventilated and massaged all around, and executive lounge seating coupled with a ‘gentleman’ function, allowing the rear passenger to stretch out in comfort. In addition to this, you get an Alcantara headliner, along with the headrest and backrest cushions finished in Alcantara (with customisable embroidery) on the Individual 740Li.
The Individual 740Li M Sport comes solely with a 3-litre twin-turbo inline-six, producing 340bhp of power and 450Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Which means the 740Li is no slouch, accelerating from 0 to 100kmph in 5.6 seconds.
The standard 7 Series was already a competent luxury limo in its own right, particularly to those with a sporty bent. The Individual 740Li M Sport promises to widen that appeal, with a more elegant design and better appointed interiors. It is bound to make a lot of potential buyers sit up and notice, rather than simply booking the S-Class.
