The S 1000 XR features BMW’s familiar XR design language and looks very similar to to the recently launched F 900 XR. It gets an adjustable windshield, full-LED setup along with integrated parking lights. However, the USP of the S 1000 XR has to be the motor sourced from the S 1000 XR, of course, in a detuned manner. It skims on VVT (ShiftCam in BMW dictionary) and makes do with 163bhp @ 11,000rpm and 114Nm @ 9,250rpm. The 999cc, inline-four motor also gets a lower compression ratio and weighs a lot more as well at 226kg. The 4th, 5th and 6th gears have longer ratios, low noise level, lower fuel consumption and lower engine rpm at cruising speeds. The motorcycle sprints from 0-100 km/hr in just 3.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of over 200 km/hr, claims BMW.

The adventure tourer features the latest generation of BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) as standard. bi-directional quickshifter and cruise control is standard too.
