With the impending launch of the Ola electric scooter, it seems like another homegrown manufacturer wants in on the electric scooter pie. Bangalore-based Simple Energy is set to launch their first product, the Simple One electric scooter on August 15, seemingly clashing with the launch of the yet-unnamed Ola electric scooter.

While the details of the Simple One electric scooter such as performance specs, range, and charging remain unknown at the moment, what we do know is that the electric scooter will be available in a choice of three different colors. The teaser photos reveal a large, fully-digital instrument cluster and we expect it to be equipped with connected features. There will be disc brakes on both ends, along with an LED headlamp with DRLs, and an LED tail lamp. The electric scooter is also expected to receive an ‘intelligent side stand’ and a large underseat storage space as well.

Simple Energy is currently working on building a factory capable of producing one million units, and aims for 99 per cent localisation at launch. Pre-order bookings for the scooter begin on August 15, while the launch event will be livestreamed on Simple Energy’s YouTube channel on the same day. The scooter will be launched in a phased manner with 13 cities across the country listed under Phase 1.

The Simple One electric scooter should lock horns against the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Okinawa Praise, and while the pricing details are also under wraps at the moment, we can expect it to be priced around the Rs 1 lakh mark.
