Pune lad Sarthak Chavan wins 2020 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup

After starting last on the grid, Sarthak Chavan took P1 and won the 2020 Idemitsu Honda India talent cup title in the NSF250R class

The 2020 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup saw nail-biting action in the last round. Pune youngster Sarthak Chavan started last on the grid but after a heroic performance, crossed the finish line first, which was enough to seal the deal for the championship title. Sarthak Chavan races in the NSF250R class– Honda’s world-class Moto3 machine. Although the race season was limited to just two weekends this year, it gave us a glimpse of the upcoming talent in the country.

The Idemitsu Honda Talent Cup is a feeder series for the Honda Asia Championship and hence, one of the most important racing series in the country for budding young racers. Following the 14-year-old Sarthak’s strong performance were two Chennai boys: Kavin Quintal and Varoon S in second and third position respectively. In the CBR150R Novice class, Chennai’s Shyam Sundar finished first followed by Vivek Rohit Kapadia from Belgaum and the youngest of all, 12-year-old Rakshith S Dave from Chennai.

Sarthak Chavan has made great progress in the Indian motorsport scene. At age 14, he already has ample experience in off-road and road racing. He started off with motocross at a young age of four and has even raced in Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) as well. After an already impressive ten years in the sport, he has added yet another feather to his cap with the championship win at the 2020 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup.
