In the wake of the increasing cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, manufacturers have started halting their production facilities. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India too has now temporarily shut its production across all the four plants in India located in Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Gujarat.

Honda has announced the duration of the production shutdown will depend upon Government policy. At the moment, Honda is operating on skeleton staff necessary to run the day-to-day essential services.

Honda is not the first company to halt the production in this pandemic. KTM recently announced that it will suspend production for two weeks, beginning from March 30 in its Austria plant. Ducati too, which had initially shut its production till March 18, has extended it to March 25 as a precautionary measure. American cruiser giant Harley-Davidson too had to halt its production in its US plants after one employee tested positive at one of the plants. With the shutdown, the supply of CKD and CBU units too will take a hit in the country.
