Aston Martin has launched the DB12 at Rs 4.59 crore. Unlike the DB11, the Aston Martin DB12 has a smaller but more powerful 4-litre twin-turbo V8. It has a new exterior and interior design, as well as improved suspension and handling.

Aston Martin DB12 exteriors

The Aston Martin DB12 receives a significant update over its predecessor, including an enlarged intake grille and updated teardrop LED headlights with a new lighting design. Furthermore, it has smaller frameless wing mirrors and discreet flush door handles that add to the DB12's modern appearance. This super tourer is now equipped with newly designed 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres. It has a pair of chrome-coated exhaust tips and elegant C-shaped LED taillights at the back. The DB12 has a dry weight of 1685kg, which is the same as the wet weight of a V12 DB11. The DB12's weight distribution is stated to be 48 per cent front and 52 per cent rear.

Aston Martin DB12 interiors and features

Significant upgrades are made to the DB12's cabin. The latest grand tourer from Aston Martin features a newly developed in-house infotainment system with dual 10.25-inch displays—a multifunctional MID and an infotainment screen. This sophisticated system provides wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities. The DB12 is the flagship model in Aston Martin's GT lineup, and it exudes luxury throughout its interior. The majority of the cabin is wrapped in plush leather, with Alcantara headlining and carbon fibre trim on the centre console.

Aston Martin DB12 powertrain and chassis

The Aston Martin DB12's Mercedes-AMG-sourced V8 twin-turbo engine produces 671bhp of power and 800Nm of torque, with power routed to the rear wheels via a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox. In comparison to the previous V8-powered DB11, the new DB12 has a significant increase in power and torque of 168bhp and 125Nm. It also outperforms the V12-powered DB11 variant in terms of power output. The DB12 accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 325kmph.

The DB12 is outfitted with Aston Martin's latest adaptive dampers and firmer anti-roll bars. It also has an electronic rear differential, which Aston claims can switch from fully open to locked in milliseconds. In terms of braking performance, the DB12 is outfitted with cast iron 400mm front discs and 360mm rear discs. However, for those looking for better braking performance, Aston Martin will offer carbon ceramic brakes as an optional upgrade for the DB12.
