All-new Hyundai Creta bookings open at Rs 25,000

After selling over 4.6 lakh units of the current generation Creta, Hyundai is set to launch the latest iteration of the SUV sometime this month

The Creta has been Hyundai’s hot-selling mid-sized SUV for a long time. After unveiling the 2020 Hyundai Creta for the first time in India at the Auto Expo early in February, Hyundai has now commenced the bookings for the next generation Creta at Rs 25,000 at Hyundai dealerships across the country.

Design

The styling of the new Creta is a huge departure from the current generation model and is based on the brand’s latest ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. The overall silhouette is now bulbuous against the more angular design of the old Creta and it now gets tri-beam LED headlamps positioned under sleek LED DRLs. What’s also striking is the chrome embellished three-slat cascading grille and the flared wheelarches.

Powertrain

In terms of underpinnings, the 2020 Creta is based on the Seltos’ platform and features the same set of engines as well. It will be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, both of which can be mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter AT. Enthusiasts can rejoice too, since the Creta can be had with a 1.4-litre turbo GDI engine as well. It is also the same unit that does duty in the Seltos and is mated to a 7-speed DCT, churning 138bhp and 242Nm of torque.

Features

When the first generation Creta was launched, Hyundai offered a range of segment first features and the Korean carmaker plans move forward with a similar approach with the 2020 Creta as well. It sports segment-first paddle shifters, rear seat headrest cushion, two step rear reclining seats and a lot more.

Commenting on the All New Creta booking announcement, Mr. Tarun Garg, Director, Sales, Marketing & Service, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “Over the years, Hyundai Creta has set new benchmarks, becoming an Iconic Brand name among Indian consumers and building a strong legacy with over 4.6 Lakh Happy Customers across India. It is time for the Creta to set new standards once again. We are confident that All New Creta – The Ultimate SUV will captivate consumer interest and cater to the Ultimate Aspirations of the new age customer.”

The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to go on sale sometime this month and it will primarily lock horns with the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the Kia Seltos. It might also lure buyers from a segment above and below given its extensive features’ list.
