Priced at a shade under Rs 20 lakh the VW T-Roc met with surprisingly strong demand and all 1000 units were sold out before 2020 was done and dusted with. Bowing to demand from dealers and customers Volkswagen are bringing back the T-Roc and it is now priced Rs 21.35 lakh, ex-showroom, demanding a premium of Rs 1.35 lakh compared to the older prices.

Mechanically the T-Roc remains unchanged from before and continues with the 1.5-litre TSI Evo turbo-petrol makes 148bhp, 250Nm of torque and mated to the 7-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic driving the front wheels.

VW T-Roc design

Visually nothing has changed though Volkswagen are bringing in some new colours, the most striking of which is this bright red. The India-spec cars will get the contrasting black roof along with black alloy rims that lends the small SUV a sporty stance. As it stands, the T-Roc is a striking piece of design, marking the transition to a younger, more dynamic and cooler image that will be further applied with the Taigun.

The VW T-Roc continues to sport enthusiastic performance

On the inside the T-Roc continues with the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, virtual cockpit and panoramic sunroof. Space is good up front but the sloping coupe-like roofline does make it a squeeze at the rear. Dynamically the T-Roc has a sporty setup that does give it a slightly firm ride but delivers extremely sure-footed and engaging road manners.

Like before the T-Roc will continue to be imported as a CBU and in limited numbers. Dealers are now taking bookings while it can also be booked online. Deliveries will start May onwards.
