Skoda has unveiled the Elroq electric SUV, to sit under the Skoda Enyaq that is already on sale in international markets. The Skoda Elroq is significant because it debuts a new design language (that we could see in the India-specific Kylaq compact SUV), while coming in at a more affordable price — it slots itself under the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in terms of both dimensions and price. Let’s dive in and check out more of Skoda’s all new model line.

2024 Skoda Elroq styling

The Skoda Elroq debuts a new styling language from Skoda called ‘Modern Solid’, that gets a split headlamp face. Front and centre is the blacked out grille, that Skoda is calling the Tech Deck — it houses all the radars and ADAS equipment neatly behind it. The Elroq gets Matrix LED headlights on higher variants, and this new face could make its way to future Skoda cars like the Kylaq. In terms of length, the Elroq is nearly 4.5m (little shorter than a Tata Harrier, for perspective) and therefore slots under the much larger Enyaq. Wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches based on variants, with aero optimised wheel designs. Coefficient of drag has been prioritised and it gets a Cd of 0.26. Not too much has changed in terms of rear design — the taillamp design is reminiscent of the Kodiaq / Karoq.

2024 Skoda Elroq interiors

The Skoda Elroq is based on the MEB skateboard electric platform, and hence is rather spacious on the inside. The dashboard is reminiscent of the Enyaq’s, with a small instrument cluster and a massive 13-inch infotainment screen. The steering wheel is a familiar design, and storage spaces are plenty inside the cabin. In the rear, space is generous and Skoda has tried to address under-thigh support concerns by extending the edge of seat squab upwards ever so slightly to support the passenger’s thighs better. Boot space stands at 470 litres, and can be expanded up to 1580 litres. Being a Skoda, it carries forward plenty of 'Simply Clever' features like the umbrellas in the doors, the coin holder in the centre console, and even a net to hold the charging cable to the underside of the parcel tray so it doesn’t take up space on the boot floor.

2024 Skoda Elroq drivetrain

The Skoda Elroq gets a total of three battery options. The Elroq 50 is the entry level variant and gets a 52kWh battery, with a single motor on the rear axle. It gets 370km of WLTP range, and the motor puts of 125kW and 310Nm. The Elroq 60 gets a larger capacity battery — a 63kWh battery that allows for a 400km range. This variant too is RWD, but power is bumped up to 150kW and torque remains 310Nm. The range topper is Elroq 85 — it features an 82kWh battery with 560km of range. It is hooked up to a more powerful rear motor, making 210kW and 545Nm of torque. There’s also an AWD 85x that gets another motor on the front axle, with 220kW and “more than” 560Nm of torque.

2024 Skoda Elroq rivals

There are already a few different editions of the Skoda Elroq — the Sportline has a more sporty design and interior layout, while the First Edition gets a fully loaded interior and an exclusive lighting element on the grille. The only rival the Elroq has in India is the BYD Atto 3, and it will rival the likes of the Kia EV3 in global markets. While it isn’t confirmed whether the Elroq will be launched in India, Skoda has said that it is evaluating it for a possible launch in the future.
