The covers are finally off the 2023 version of Volkswagen’s Tiguan. This Tiguan is offered in a single variant, ‘Elegance’, priced at ₹34.69 lakh (ex-showroom). While nothing has changed mechanically or cosmetically from the outside, the SUV is now BS6.2 compliant and packs in new features like wireless charging, park assist, and a new interior colour scheme. The mileage of the SUV has also improved by 7 per cent.
On the new Tiguan, nothing has changed from the previous model from the outside. The silhouette is retained, and with the bold exterior comprising a muscularly designed bumper, piano black finish inserts, and a broad radiator grille that envelops the Volkswagen logo in the centre, the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan has a commanding stance. Dark LED combination tail lamps with a new light signature at the rear serve as a nice contrast to the LED matrix headlights at the front. The Tiguan will be offered in five exterior colour options – Nightshade Blue, Oryx White with Pearl Effect, Deep Black, Dolphin Grey, and Reflex Silver.
The interiors of the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan have been revamped. The SUV now offers optional dual-tone Storm Grey interiors. Features like ambient lighting, an illuminated gear lever, an electric adjustment at the driver’s seat, a 10-inch driver information display, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system adorn the SUV’s dashboard. This too has been carried over from the previous Tiguan.
ADAS finally makes its way to the new Tiguan. A park assist feature (ADAS Level 1) is now available that makes it easier to park the SUV in an urban space at the touch of a button. A new wireless charging feature has also made its way to the new Tiguan. Existing features like six airbags, ABS, ESC, anti-slip regulation (ASR), EDL, hill start assist, hill descent control, traction control system, TPMS, driver alert system, and ISOFIX child seat mounts have also been carried over to this edition of the Tiguan.
The same old 2-litre TSI engine, now BS6.2 compliant, powers the 2023 Tiguan. This petrol mill produces 187bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. Offered in an all-wheel drive setup and with the inclusion of four drive modes (namely, snow, road, off-road, and off-road custom), the Tiguan paves its way through challenging terrain.
The 2023 version of the Volkswagen Tiguan is now priced at ₹34.70 lakh, a ₹1.2 lakh hike from the previous one. This Tiguan will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, and Citroen C5 Aircross.
