Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X design

The design is inspired by bigger Triumph bikes. The tank has a sculpted design with knee indents and has a 13-litre fuel capacity. The traditional Triumph black powder-coated engine casings are seen here as well, along with gold anodised forks. The bikes come with a finned cylinder head and an upswept exhaust. Each bike comes with three dual-tone paint options, with the Speed 400 getting red, black, and blue colour options, and the Scrambler 400X getting green/white, red/black and black/silver options. In addition to the standard equipment, Triumph is offering 25 additional optional accessories.

The Speed gets a 17-inch front wheel whereas the Scrambler gets a 19-inch front wheel.

It also gets a longer wheelbase and longer travel suspension with 150mm for the front and rear. The bike also gets a wider handlebar. The front wheel is also larger at 19 inches. Additionally, the bike gets a larger cast steel brake pedal and high-grip foot pegs that are positioned lower and wider. The front 320mm disc is also larger compared to the Speed 400.

In addition, the bikes also get a torque-assist clutch, USB-C charging port and LED headlights which have Triumph’s signature DRL. The instrument cluster is a combination of analogue and digital and shows all the important details like the fuel range, gear indicator and heated grip indicator (available as an option). You can control the screen with buttons mounted on the handlebar.

In terms of safety, both bikes come equipped with an anti-theft immobiliser as standard with a transponder chip integrated into the ignition key, ensuring only the owner can start the engine.

Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X price and rivals

While prices haven’t been announced yet, Triumph is claiming that they will be competitively priced. Triumph however has informed us that both models will launch in India on July 5th and will go on sale in other markets by the end of the year. Triumph claims a 16,000Km service interval with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty. Rivals are plenty for both these bikes like the BMW G 310 R, KTM Duke 390, and Bajaj’s very own Dominar 400. The upcoming Harley Davidson X440 is also going to rival the Speed 400.
